Triploidy is a chromosomal disorder characterized by an organism having three copies of each chromosome instead of the usual two.
Think about getting ready for school and packing your backpack. Normally, you would pack two pencils - one to use and one as a backup. In triploidy, it's like packing three pencils instead - an extra copy beyond what's typically needed.
Monosomy: A chromosomal condition where there is only one copy (instead of the usual pair) for a particular chromosome.
Trisomy: A similar chromosomal disorder where there are three copies (instead of the usual pair) for a particular chromosome.
Genome: The whole hereditary information encoded in an organism’s DNA.
