The pH scale measures how acidic or basic an aqueous solution is, ranging from 0 (very acidic) to 14 (very basic), with 7 being neutral.
The PH scale is like measuring temperature. Just as we use a thermometer to see if it's hot or cold outside, the pH scale tells us how acidic or basic a solution is.
Acid: A substance that donates hydrogen ions and has a pH less than 7 on the pH scale.
Base: A substance that accepts hydrogen ions and has a pH greater than 7 on the pH scale.
Neutralization Reaction: This is when an acid and base react to form water and a salt, effectively neutralizing each other.
