Interphase is the phase in the cell cycle where a cell prepares for division. It's divided into three stages - G1 (first gap), S (synthesis), and G2 (second gap).
Consider interphase as a student preparing for an exam. During this time, they gather all necessary materials (G1), study and understand concepts (S), and finally review everything before the test (G2).
Mitosis: This is a type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent nucleus.
Cytokinesis: This is the process where one cell splits off from its sister cell after mitosis.
Cell Cycle Checkpoints: These are control mechanisms in eukaryotic cells which ensure proper division of the cell.
