A hydrophobic substance is one that does not have an affinity for water; it does not dissolve in or mix well with water.
Now imagine you're at the same party but you hate dancing. You'd avoid the dance floor just like hydrophobic substances avoid mixing with water.
Nonpolar Molecule: Molecules without any separation of charge, so no positive or negative poles are formed.
Lipid: A type of organic molecule, often fats and oils, that is hydrophobic.
Hydrophobic Interaction: The tendency of nonpolar molecules to aggregate in aqueous solution and exclude water molecules.
