A hydrophilic substance is one that has an affinity for water; it can dissolve in or mix well with water.
Imagine you're at a party and you love dancing. You're drawn towards the dance floor just like hydrophilic substances are attracted to water.
Solvent: A substance, often liquid, capable of dissolving another substance (solute).
Solute: The substance that gets dissolved by a solvent.
Polarity: The property having distinct and opposite charges (positive and negative).
