Definition

The Golgi apparatus is an organelle in eukaryotic cells that modifies, sorts, and packages proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum for storage within the cell or transport out of the cell.

Analogy

Imagine if your school had an office where all incoming mail was sorted, labeled with names, and then delivered to classrooms. That's like what happens at your cellular post office - also known as your Golgi apparatus!
