Definition

Genetic information refers to instructions in an organism's DNA that guide growth, development, functioning and reproduction. It is encoded as DNA sequences within genes.

Analogy

Consider genetic information as a recipe book for your body. Each gene is like an individual recipe detailing how to make specific proteins (dishes), which help your body function properly.
