Cell Plate

Definition

A plate that develops at midline of dividing plant cell during cytokinesis, eventually becoming the cell wall for each of the two daughter cells.

Analogy

Think of a construction site where a new wall is being built to divide one large room into two smaller rooms. The cell plate is like that new wall under construction.
