Agarose Gel Electrophoresis

Definition

A technique used in biochemistry and molecular biology to separate proteins or fragments based on their size using an electric field applied through agarose gel.

Analogy

It's like running different sized balls down a slope filled with thick mud. The smaller balls (smaller DNA fragments) will travel further down the slope (gel), while larger balls (larger DNA fragments) won't get as far.
