The active site is the region on an enzyme where substrate molecules bind and undergo chemical reaction.
Consider the active site as a lock and substrate molecule as key. Only specific keys (substrates) can fit into certain locks (active sites), triggering an action - opening the door or initiating chemical reactions in this case!
Enzyme-Substrate Complex: This is formed when an enzyme binds to its substrate at its active site.
Catalyst: A substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without being consumed in the process; enzymes are biological catalysts.
Allosteric Site: A site on an enzyme other than the active site where molecules can bind and influence enzyme activity.
