Expanding empires and global trade networks in Early Modern World History contributed to new production systems, social structures, and economic systems. Agricultural production and manufacturing both intensified as consumer demand increased. Intensified production often included forms of coerced labor, especially in the colonial Americas. These developments included the emergence of the modern capitalism and racial categorization. People and states often resisted these developments, and many resisters are remembered as heroes today.
