Scientific management is a theory of management that analyzes and synthesizes workflows. Its main objective is improving economic efficiency, especially labor productivity.
Frederick Winslow Taylor: Frederick Winslow Taylor was an American mechanical engineer who sought ways to improve industrial efficiency and is often referred to as 'the father of scientific management.'
Efficiency: This refers to how well resources (like time, money, or labor) are used for their intended task. In our sports analogy, it would be like measuring how many goals a player scores compared to how much time they spend on the field.
Productivity: Productivity measures output per unit of input such as labor or raw materials. It’s like looking at how many points a basketball player scores per game - if they score more points in less time (input), they're considered more productive.
