Thomas Paine was an English-born American political activist, philosopher, and author. He is best known for his pamphlet "Common Sense," which advocated for American independence from Britain.
Think of Paine as a persuasive speaker at a rally, convincing the crowd (American colonists) that it's time to break away from the event organizer (Britain) and start their own event because they can manage it better.
