The Sino-Japanese Wars were two conflicts fought between China and Japan over control of Korea and other territories; first from 1894-1895 then again from 1937-1945.
Think of the Sino-Japanese Wars as two intense sports matches between rival teams, with each match representing a different war. The prize (or trophy) they were fighting for was control over certain territories.
Imperialism: A policy or ideology by which a nation extends its power by acquiring territory, often through colonization.
Manchuria: A region in Northeast Asia that became a point of conflict between China and Japan during the Second Sino-Japanese War.
Treaty of Shimonoseki: The treaty that ended the First Sino-Japanese War, where China recognized Korea's independence and ceded Taiwan to Japan.
