Self-esteem refers to an individual's overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It encompasses beliefs about oneself as well as emotional states such as triumph, despair, pride and shame.
Think of self-esteem like a personal stock market. When you have high self-esteem, you feel like your "stock" is valuable; when you have low self-esteem, it feels like your "stock" has plummeted and isn't worth much.
Self-concept: An idea of the self constructed from the beliefs one holds about oneself and the responses of others.
Self-efficacy: Belief in one's ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task.
