Retrieval cues are stimuli that help you retrieve a certain memory or piece of information from your long-term memory.
Imagine retrieval cues as clues in a treasure hunt. They guide you towards the hidden treasure (the memory) by triggering associations and pathways that lead to the desired piece of information.
Priming: The activation, often unconsciously, of particular associations in memory just before carrying out an action or task.
Recall: A measure of memory in which one must retrieve previously learned information without any prompts or cues.
Recognition: A measure of memory where one needs only identify items previously learned.
