Implicit memory, also known as non-declarative memory, refers to unconscious memories such as skills and habits. These are memories that are not intentionally recalled but influence behaviors and performance.
Implicit memory is like riding a bike. Once you learn how to do it, you don't have to consciously think about each action; your body just knows what to do.
Procedural Memory: A type of implicit memory that aids in performing tasks without conscious awareness or attention.
Classical Conditioning: A learning process where two stimuli become associated with each other; often involved in forming implicit memories.
Priming: An implicit memory effect where exposure to one stimulus influences response to another stimulus.
