Biological psychology, also known as biopsychology or psychobiology, is a field in psychology that examines the physical basis for behaviors and mental states, looking specifically at the roles of genetics and the brain.
Think of biological psychology like a mechanic examining a car. Just as a mechanic looks under the hood to understand how different parts contribute to the overall functioning of the vehicle, biological psychologists examine our genes and brain structures to understand how they influence our behavior and mental processes.
Neuroscience: The scientific study of nervous systems. It involves understanding how neurons communicate with each other to control bodily functions and behavior.
Genetics: The study of heredity and variations in living organisms. In terms of psychology, it explores how genes influence individual differences in behavior.
Physiological Psychology: This branch focuses on the physical processes that underlie mental operations such as vision and memory.
