Taboos are social or cultural prohibitions that dictate what actions are considered unacceptable within a particular group.
A taboo is like an invisible electric fence for dogs - it's not physically there but crossing it leads to negative consequences within the community.
Norms: These are established standards of behavior maintained by a society. Taboos would be considered extreme violations of these norms.
Sanctions: These are responses from others towards the behavior of an individual or group. If someone breaks a taboo, they might face sanctions from their community.
Mores: These are norms that embody moral views and principles of a group. Breaking these may lead to severe punishment; taboos often fall under this category.
