A sense of belonging refers to an individual's feeling of being valued, needed, and accepted within a community or group.
Think about your favorite sports team. You wear their jersey, cheer for them during games, and feel a connection with other fans. That's your sense of belonging to that fan community.
Social Identity: This is the understanding of who we are based on our group membership(s). Like how you identify as a fan of your favorite sports team.
In-group/Out-group: These are social groups to which an individual feels they do (in-group) or do not (out-group) belong. For example, if you're a fan of Team A, then other fans of Team A would be your in-group while fans of Team B would be considered out-group.
Community Cohesion: This is the degree to which residents have a 'sense' of belonging to their neighborhood, sharing common values and goals. Just like how all fans want their team to win!
