These are illnesses caused by infestation (infection) with parasites such as protozoa (one-celled animals), worms, or insects.
Imagine if you had uninvited guests at your house who eat all your food without contributing anything. That's what parasitic diseases do; they take nutrients from their host (you) without giving anything beneficial back.
Endoparasite: An organism that lives inside its host. It’s like having someone living rent-free inside your home!
Ectoparasite: An organism that lives on the surface of its host. Like having someone constantly hanging onto you but not actually being part of you.
Helminths: These are worm-like parasites living in and feeding on living hosts, receiving nourishment and protection while disrupting their hosts' nutrient absorption.
