The Nile River Valley refers to the fertile land surrounding the Nile River in northeastern Africa. It's known for being home to one of the world's earliest civilizations, Ancient Egypt.
Think of the Nile River Valley as a life-giving vein running through a body (Egypt). Just like veins carry blood necessary for life, the Nile brought water and nutrients that allowed civilization to flourish in an otherwise desert region.
Hieroglyphics: These were pictorial characters used by ancient Egyptians as their writing system.
Pharaohs: They were rulers of Ancient Egypt, considered gods on earth.
Papyrus: A type of plant found along the Nile river which was used by ancient Egyptians to make paper-like material for writing.
