A metropolis is a very large city often regarded as the central or main city of a country or region. It has a large population and numerous services, and it often influences the surrounding areas.
A metropolis is like the sun in our solar system. Just as planets revolve around the sun due to its gravitational pull, smaller cities and towns are drawn towards a metropolis because of its economic, cultural, and political influence.
Megacity: An urban area with a total population in excess of ten million people.
Global City (or World City): A city considered to be an important node in the global economic system.
Suburb: An outlying district of a city, especially a residential one.
