An enclave within East German territory that existed from 1949 to 1990. It was controlled by Western Allies during the Cold War period.
Imagine you're at a birthday party where everyone's playing musical chairs. When the music stops, you find yourself sitting on a chair (West Berlin) surrounded by people from another team (East Germans). You're still part of your original team but isolated within their territory.
