The hydrogen bomb is a type of nuclear weapon that uses fusion to release a large amount of energy. It's much more powerful than an atomic bomb which relies on fission.
If an atomic bomb is like setting off a bundle of dynamite sticks (already pretty devastating), then a hydrogen bomb is like igniting an entire dynamite factory - exponentially more destructive!
Fusion Reaction: A reaction in which two or more atomic nuclei come together to form one heavier nucleus along with significant amounts energy.
Atomic Bomb: A weapon with great explosive power that results from the sudden release of energy upon splitting (fission) atoms.
Thermonuclear Weapon: Another term for hydrogen bombs; these weapons use heat generated from fission reactions to trigger fusion reactions.
