In the context of World War I, aircrafts were used for reconnaissance, bombing raids, and dogfights between enemy planes. They significantly changed the nature of warfare.
Think of aircrafts like drones today. Just as drones can fly over areas to capture footage or deliver packages without being detected easily, WWI aircrafts could gather information about enemy positions or drop bombs from above.
Dogfight: A close range aerial battle between fighter aircrafts. It was a major part of air warfare during World War I.
Reconnaissance: The military term for exploring beyond the area occupied by friendly forces to gain vital information about enemy forces or features of the environment for later analysis.
Zeppelin Raids: Attacks by German airships called Zeppelins which were used for bombing missions during World War I.
